I do have to say after taking the many roads that lead me to this man and my new family...I am so happy to have weathered every bump, pothole, detour and traffic jam.

Yay ME!

Knitting is next up!

Introducing Gus...

I have always wanted a dog...
A small dog of my berry own.

I rescued a dog last Thursday.
He is a one year old Pug.
gus_92009%20014.jpg
Here is my Gus!

I rescued him from Tails-of-hope.org

We traveled out to Boonsboro, Maryland where his foster lives, and for me it was puglove at first site.
We took Ox with us to make sure he gets along well with him, and they ran off together.
We rounded them up, I signed a contract, wrote a check and we took him home.
The girls told me it was "like a dream" that we were getting him.

He rode really well in the car. Very alert, and it was an easy trip.

We settled in for the weekend, and he stayed glued to my side.
It is fabulous.

Then I go Ow! What was that?? oh my g-d. a flea.
Immediately M and I speed into action. We've had him for almost 24 hours.
We're thinking the same thing
INFESTATION of EPIC PROPORTIONS.
We start scratching and feeling oogy.
He gets his first bath and I pick most if not all the fleas from him.
I scratch, he scratches, m scratches... oogy all around.

He gets frontline.
We go online and buy 200 dollars worth of frontline on the internet.
For the cats, for Ox and more for Gus.
I spray the carpets, I vacuum the couch.
oogy.

We decide until he has proven himself he will be crated at night.
This is how he would prefer to sleep...

I'm so happy.
He fetches, he's quiet, he's as in love with me as I am with him...
He plays tug of war with Ox who is very gentle!
The cats have already shown him they rule the roost...one hiss and he was like OKAY!!
He's learning to Sit and Come and the command Leave it.
He likes tiny carrot pieces for treats...

He's got a little ways to go to be completely housetrained and on a schedule...but he's awesome!

Stirring the Pot

I am knitting.

this is due to the people I know procreating at an alarming rate.
None of them want to know what they are having.
This is really an ordeal for a knitter.
I dont really like to knit creme colored things.
So I am using what I have.
boring yellow.
in the creme family.
YAWN.

I have 3 baby things to knit.

I am knitting a sweater.

I have to knit a hat and baby socks.

I want to knit a blankie. (ha!)

I lost my mojo for knitting with all of the fabulous stuff going on...
I thought I would take you on a tour of my baby knits of olde.

All two of them
Vintage H Knitting

Hat and Socks

Hand Dyed Woolerina yarn

Baby Trellis Sweater
This was a labor of love as I gave it to an old friend for her first baby.
This was the only knit she got from me.
Enough effort for 3 babies went into this sweater.

The Back...

People will be getting shortchanged this year. Simple and from the stash!

GUS
gus_92009%20005.jpg
I love my baby Gustopher.
M calls him FishHead or DisGUSturd...these names mean Gus is pugging his way into M's heart, slowly but surely.

He got stabbed in the eye by the stupid cat on tuesday.
Punctured Iris. O.M.G.
One of the only parts of the eye that bleeds.
Within 2 hours, he was at the vet. Probably saved his eye.

Gus and I will be going to his follow up Vet appt. today...
I hope he is healing nicely.
Man, it takes the patience of Lord Buddha himself to get drops into his eye.
He got wise to me dropping it in with a treat.
I thought I was slick.
One time was all it took.
Little white bottle = Gus' audition for Cirque du Soleil...the Pug Contortionist.

The cat is lucky that there would have been witnesses to retribution - that is all I am saying.
M and I are deciding if declawing or outside is best for Carrot if there is more disturbance in the Force at Casa K.

I can't have Carrot turning into Darth Maul every time Gus is around.
My light saber is bigger.

Just because I love him so...
here is what I look like without my knitting on the couch lately...

Couldn't you just eat him up?

A Swirl of Random Thoughts

Today...I have decided to...

....Grab my friends and hold them tight at least once when you see them. You never know what is out there to snatch them from you.
hug.jpg
I wish I could with one of my friends now. Thoughts and prayers girl...we gottem in bunches

...Remember at least one nice thing that someone random did for you while you were on the road.
memorialday2009%20025.jpg
I consider funny bumperstickers, licence plates or even a stranger picking his nose all nice little jems to giggle at. Providing me with some mirth as I creep along...this one I took on Memorial Day - I drive 2 hours daily. DAILY on the beltway. This is my prozac that and listening to Anna Karenina on my Ipod.

...Take the time to ponder the stars up above when I am taking my dog out to toiley at night.
A%2520Perseid%2520meteor%2520-%2520NASA.jpg
recently I have been been wide eyed and all kinds of jumpy - staring at the woods behind my house thanks to watching a discovery channel program on rabid foxes...Gus has been taking forever as a result, 'cause he is looking out there too...SO Last night instead...I looked up and remembered how I wondered at the stars when I first met my husband...way out in the country. Also not watching discovery channel shows titled "when animals horribly attack perfectly normal people minding their own damn business" would help too. Also don't google Rabid Fox attacks in 'insert County here'...yeah. don't do that either. seriously.

...Learning that studying for algebraic foundation tests CAN be a way to spend time with my child
chocolate_yums.jpg
Work in progress....Maybe I need to let her and I have a "chocolate break" - nothing makes happy like chocolate can.

lastly...Indulge in some online virtual retail therapy
Retail-Therapy.jpg
- this is where you go on all the stores you love so dear, shop and get what you want, fill up your cart and then close the window. Poof! That makes me so happy.

now if you will excuse me... I hear down the hall people are having fun and I must go join them.
toodles!

...isms...

Things I have said recently...

...no you may not be excused...what is all this left on your plate?
...you are going to eat that because there are starving children in The Sudan.
...you can have dessert after you finish doing your online math study quizzes...
...for the last time, don't look at the dog while you are eating...you are encouraging him!
...yes, of course you may have another helping of brussel sprouts.
...as soon as I shovel this poop into the woods I will come check your homework...
...the dog doesn't care if you are naked...hurry up.
...there comes a time when I can tell you these things, and now is not the time.
...why do you need three towels?
...my guess is you would not be using so many towels if I make you fold the laundry.
...what is the dog doing...get up and check.
...you can't expect the dog to go potty in 3.2 seconds...he likes to sniff around.
...get back in (the shower) and rinse ALL the shampoo out.
...when I call your name I expect to hear lots of thumping and see you in front of me.
...curling irons are hot honey, very hot.
...are you sure you know how to make macaroni and cheese?
...lets bring back the sandwich...the sandwich needs to be in your lunch.
...that is not poop, that is a leaf... now pick it up and throw it out.
...yes, fearless with spiders, not so much with frogs.
...what were you singing in the shower? yes you were I heard you!
...how was math today?
...I want to see the entire binder...right here in my lap
...we're not watching that ferb show. icarly yes, ferb no.
...ooh super nanny is on - hurry up
...what are the deets? oh details.
...no you may not have a yahoo account. Chat from Gmail.
...i love you honey.
...have a great day - you are the best
...hurry up!! is that the bus?
...use my glasses - I'm not that old.
...g-d I need some cowgirl time...
..snuggle closer

I love my daughter...so much.
